Le Cercle Francophone Hosts Its First Ever Flash Mob Dance on Bruin Plaza
On February 19th, an exciting flash mob dance took place on Bruin Plaza in the heart of UCLA. Organized by Le Cercle Francophone | French Club and sponsored by the UCLA Center for the Study of Global France, this event brought together dancers, students of French courses, and onlookers for a unique experience.
The flash mob was the brainchild of two very talented French dancers, Lucie Domenach and Lou Orblin. In residence with the Villa Albertine, an initiative sponsored by the French Embassy, Lucie and Lou envisioned this event to connect with the Los Angeles community.
The flash mob started with Lucie and Lou teaching their choreography, and the group gradually performed a synchronized routine. The dance featured a mix of contemporary and hip-hop styles, set to original music composed for the event.
About 50 dancers participated, including students from French courses at UCLA and the Lycée International de Los Angeles (LILA), who came from Burbank to join this special event. The crowd quickly gathered, with many spectators, students, and tourists capturing the moment on their phones.
The flash mob began at 12:00 PM, after Lucie and Lou were interviewed by the Daily Bruin. After the performance, the dancers mingled with the audience, sharing their excitement and taking pictures. Lucie, Lou, and the Cercle Francophone students were thrilled by the energy, and it was uplifting to witness the community coming together through dance.
The flash mob dance on Bruin Plaza was a huge success. Le Cercle Francophone | French Club is excited to organize more such unique events in the future, continuing to share French creativity throughout the UCLA community.
