Manga Cottino-Jones (1933–2022) was Professor Emerita of Italian in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies at UCLA. A distinguished scholar of Italian literature and culture, her research focused on Italian cinema, modern Italian literature, and the relationship between film and literary narrative.

During her many years at UCLA, Cottino-Jones played an important role in developing Italian studies within the department and mentoring generations of undergraduate and graduate students. Her teaching explored a wide range of topics, including Italian film, twentieth-century Italian literature, and the intersections of literature, culture, and visual media.

She was the author and editor of several influential works on Italian cinema and literature. Her scholarship helped shape the study of Italian film, literary adaptation, and narrative form in modern Italian culture, contributing to the dialogue between literary studies and film studies within Italian studies.
