Scandinavian 50W provides undergraduates with a broad overview of the literary and cultural traditions of the Nordic lands. This course examines many of the cultural and intellectual movements from which these traditions sprung, thereby providing a context for our study of “The Outsider in Scandinavian Literature.” In accordance with the Writing II Committee’s objectives, the writing component in this course is designed to furnish the UCLA student with a valuable set of tools for writing a successful analytic humanities paper.
