Undergraduate Student Activities
In addition to campus-wide events, the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies offers community-based programs, conferences, lectures, and discussions that are of interest to undergraduate students enrolled in our programs. Please see below for a list of these opportunities.
LA Opera’s Community Circle program
LA Opera’s Community Circle program’s mission is to serve the public by producing world-class opera that preserves, promotes and advances the art form while embodying the diversity, pioneering spirit and artistic sensibility unique to Los Angeles.
Goethe-Institut Los Angeles
The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles offers cultural programming related to German language and culture, including film screenings, lectures, exhibitions, and panel discussions. Many events are open to students and provide opportunities to engage with contemporary German and European cultural topics.
Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles
The Italian Cultural Institute organizes lectures, author talks, film series, exhibitions, and concerts that highlight Italian language and culture. Programs frequently connect with literature, history, and the arts and are accessible to students interested in Italian and Mediterranean studies.
UCLA Language Clubs
Language clubs at UCLA offer students opportunities to practice languages and explore cultures beyond the classroom through conversation hours, cultural activities, film nights, and student-led events. While independently organized, these clubs are often of interest to students in ELTS programs and provide valuable spaces for informal language use and community building.
