Professor Maite Zubiaurre nominated and selected to join the Faculty Mentoring Honorary Society

Congratulations to Professor Maite Zubiaurre for her nomination and selection to join the Faculty Mentoring Honorary Society!

Nominated by Ji Young Kim (Spanish and Portuguese) and David Kim (ELTS), Maite Zubiaurre was one of twelve faculty honorees inducted into the 2022 Faculty Mentoring Honorary Society (Ji Young Kim and David Kim – no relation). The Faculty Mentoring Honorary Society recognizes UCLA faculty who have given extraordinary time and effort to the work of mentoring early and mid-career faculty, especially underrepresented faculty at UCLA. The work of mentoring is all-too-often invisible and goes unrecognized. The Honorary Society recognizes the contributions of faculty who contribute disproportionately to mentoring on campus and specifically honors the mentorship of underrepresented faculty with respect to identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, and disability. Professor Zubiaurre was honored for being a “knowledgeable, caring, and thoughtful advocate for early and mid-career, underrepresented faculty.” She previously served as the inaugural Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Division of Humanities.

The induction ceremony took place on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 at the UCLA Faculty Club. Convened by Associate Vice Chancellor Chris Dunkel Schetter and Associate Vice Chancellor Margaret Shih, the ceremony included remarks by Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Anna Spain Bradley.
